The Berth Layout tab page is used to specify the geometry of a berth, showing where ships can dock and how many cranes are on the berth. Tab Page Details ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/34c23f7d7810ee8827e334458e1bec87_914x600.png) Berth Point - Click and drag this button to the [berth layout view](#BerthLayoutView) to drop a new berth point onto the berth layout. Drag multiple points onto the layout view to create the geometry of the berth. The following parameters are specific to berth points and are only available when a berth point is highlighted in the [berth layout view](#BerthLayoutView). Berth Name- This value is the name assigned to the section of berth between the highlighted point and the point following the highlighted point. It is used on the [Ship Schedule tab](Ship_Schedule.html) to designate sections of the berth. X,Y - These values are the x and y locations of the berth point in the model view. To set the x,y location of the berth point, enter new values and then click on the berth layout view. The berth point will move to the new position. Berth Connected- This checkbox toggles a connection between berth points. A connection is represented by a brown/blue line drawn between two points. The blue line means the sea side and the brown line means the land side. If this box is checked, the berth will be connected from the highlighted point to the point following. If this box is unchecked, the berth will be unconnected from the highlighted point to the point following. This creates non-contiguous regions of the berth. Crane Allocation Barrier- This checkbox determines the restraints on cranes moving along the berth. If this box is checked, cranes will not be allowed to pass the highlighted point. If this box is unchecked, cranes will be allowed to pass the highlighted point freely. This checkbox can be used to limit cranes to work on a certain section of the berth. Multiple berth points may be placed on a straight berth to create crane allocation barriers. Trucks Travel- This value determines the direction that trucks travel along the berth. The travel direction is represented by arrows drawn on the land-side of the berth. To flip the direction of travel, choose the alternate direction of travel in the drop-down box. Depth- This value specifies the depth of the berth between the highlighted point and the point following. This value is currently not used. The following parameters affect the entire berth. Switch Land Side / Sea Side- Click this button to exchange the land-side of the berth with the sea-side of the berth. Then click on the berth layout view to see the change take place. The berth is represented by lines that are brown on one side and blue on the other. The brown side represents the land-side, while the blue side represents the sea-side. Create Berth Road - Click this button to bring up the [Create Road window](Create_Road.html). New Crane - Click this button to add a [crane](Crane.html) to the berth. Once added, the crane's initial position can be changed through the [berth position view](#BerthPositionView). Delete Crane - Click this button to remove a [crane](Crane.html) from the berth. New Dual Trolley Crane - Click this button to add a [dual trolley crane](Dual_Trolley_Crane.html) to the berth. Once added, the crane's initial position can be changed through the [berth position view](Berth_Layout.html#BerthPositionView). The following parameters are specific to cranes and are only available when a crane is highlighted in the [berth position view](#BerthPositionView): Crane Name - This value is the name assigned to the [crane](Crane.html). Detailed Parameters - Click this button to bring up the [Crane Parameters window](#BerthPositionView) of the crane. Reverse Berthing Direction- Check this to reverse the vessel berthing direction. Berth Layout View ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/63fc3563efda9890f22492470fffd6a3_549x320.png) The berth layout view shows a two-dimensional view of the berth. If you have a [background](Background.html)associated with your model, the background will also show in this view to assist you in properly laying out the berth. Supported background files include image files such as a JPEG or PNG format, or AutoCAD files in DWG and DXF format. This view operates like a typical [orthographic view](Flexsim_Users_Manual.html)in that you can zoom and translate the view by using the mouse buttons. You can also move berth points in this view with a click and drag operation. Gray dots represent berth points. Brown/blue lines represent sections of berth with the brown side of the line designating land and the blue side of the line designating sea. Arrows represent the direction that trucks travel along each section of berth. Colored squares represent cranes. Berth Position View ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/a346f2d556669753461679f35fc91388_569x71.png) The berth position view shows a flat view of the berth. The entire berth is shown here as a straight line. If you place more than two berth points onto the berth layout view, the sections of the berth will be split by red lines, as shown in the figure above. The numbers above each red line show the distance from the first berth point to the berth point at that location. Distance units are determined by the units set in the [Model Units window](Model_Units.html). This view operates like a typical [orthographic view](Flexsim_Users_Manual.html) in that you can zoom and translate (i.e. move) the view by using the mouse buttons. Initial [crane](Crane.html)positions can be changed via the berth position view. To change the reset position of a crane, click and drag the crane along the berth line.
