Schedules for a berth are built bottom-up. Hatch Profiles are the lowest level of detail for a schedule and must be created before [Services](Services.html)or [Ship Schedules](Ship_Schedule.html). The Hatch Profile is a table of operations that are to be executed on the hatch by a single crane. Operations are executed in order, commencing with the first row and proceeding to each subsequent row until the full table has been executed. Tab Page Details ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/cb9b0d461d6c058a1add1d1ae84d726a_857x311.png) Hatch Profiles List- This list shows each of the hatch profiles that have been created. To edit a profile, highlight it in the list. To add a profile click the "Add Hatch Profile" button. To delete a profile click the "Delete Hatch Profile" button. To duplicate a profile select a hatch to duplicate, then click the "Duplicate Hatch Profile" button and a new hatch with the same properties as the selected hatch will appear at the bottom of the list. Profile Name - This value is the name assigned to the hatch profile. Total Discharges- This value is the total number of containers that will be discharged from the hatch. It is determined by the set of discharge operations existing in the [hatch operations table](#HatchOperationsTable). Total Loads- This value is the total number of containers that will be loaded into the hatch. It is determined by the set of load operations existing in the [hatch operations table](#HatchOperationsTable). Based on a 'VALUE' TEU ship- This value may be used as a scaling mechanism for a standard hatch profile that is used by various sized ships, for the sake of convenience. For instance, you may create a hatch profile consisting of 10 minutes of setup time, 20-40 discharges and 30-50 loads, which is based on a 3500 TEU service. On the [Services tab](Services.html)of the Berth Planner, you can specify the TEU of that service. If the service is a 3500 TEU ship, the hatch profile remains unchanged. If the service is a 7000 TEU ship, the hatch profile is doubled to be 40-80 discharges and 60-100 loads (the setup time is unchanged). If the service is a 1750 TEU service the hatch profile is halved. The scaling factor works as a ratio of \[service TEU / hatch profile TEU\], so any set of values can work. If either TEU value is set to 0, no scaling is done. The default value is 0. Look ahead 'VALUE' rows - This value may be used to facilitate smarter movements by [crane gangs](CraneGang.html). If this value is set to 0, all the trucks of a crane gang will wait until the current operation row in the hatch profile is completed before starting on the next operation. This could mean that as the trucks are completing a discharge operation, they will wait in the yard next to their last discharge until the last truck has finished unloading to the yard. Then all of the trucks will move simultaneously to begin the next discharge or load operation. This is inefficient. Preferably, each truck should recognize when an operation is nearly complete so it can begin working on the next operation. If the 'look ahead' value is set to 1 or higher, then the crane gang will be able to continue work without these pauses. The default value is 1, which is usually sufficient, except in cases with very large crane gangs and/or small operations of only a few containers. Row Buttons- Use these buttons to manipulate the rows in the hatch operations table. Add new rows by clicking the Add Row button, or remove a row by clicking the Delete Row button. Change the ordering of the rows using the up and down arrows. Hatch Operations Table ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/b97b4f43d107f736eebea2bbb7a6209f_666x172.png) The hatch operations table lists the set of operations that are to be executed for this hatch. Each operation is represented by a row in the table and is worked on by a single crane. If you want more than one crane to be able to work on an operation, split the operation up into more than one row. Note: The Berth Planner may or may not be the data driver of your model. To get a correct model, it is vital to set up this table correctly. Please read more about the model data driver in the [FlexTerm Modeling Paradigm](Container_Terminal_Modeling_Overview.html#ChoosingADataDriver). The following parameters are part of the hatch operations table. Operation- This value is the type of operation to be executed. Options include "Setup," "Discharge" and "Load." A setup operation is delay time on the hatch during which the cranes do not operate. This may represent time for removing a hatch cover, untying container lashings, etc. A discharge operation is used to specify how many containers will be discharged from the ship. A load operation is used to specify how many containers will be loaded onto the ship. A typical set of operations may include: 1) discharging containers above the hatch, 2) some setup time to remove the hatch cover, 3) discharging containers from inside the hatch, 4) loading containers into the hatch, 5) some setup time to replace the hatch cover, and 6) loading containers above the hatch. Setup Time - This value is the time required to perform the setup operation. Time units are determined by the [Model Units window](Model_Units.html). This value has no meaning for a discharge or load operation. Container Profile -聽The following four parameters define the container profile within the hatch operations table. These parameters are accessible through the drop down menu for each row in the container profile column. ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/eb74d3dbc8e42c55c10db950be73d10a_662x169.png) Container Type - This value is the type of container that is to be operated on. Options for this field are determined by the [Container Types window](Container_Types.html). By specifying a container type, only containers of that type will be discharged or loaded. This field is required for discharge and load operations, but has no meaning for a setup operation. Size - This value is the size of the container that is to be operated on. Options include 20ft, 40ft, 45ft, 48', 53', and OOG (out of gauge or over-sized cargo) containers. By specifying a size, only containers of that size will be discharged or loaded. A blank field indicates that the default value of the container type will be used. Equipment Type - This value is the equipment type of the container that is to be operated on. Options include General, Open Top, Reefer, Tank, Bulk, Port Hole and Flat Rack equipment types. By specifying an equipment type, only containers of that equipment type will be discharged or loaded. A blank field indicates that the default value of the container type will be used. Destination - For a discharge operation, this value is the final destination of the container. For a load operation, this value is the origin of the container. Options include Yard, Ship, Default and None, Gate if a [Gate Planner object](GatePlanner.html)is included, and Rail if [Rail Planner](Rail_Planner_Overview.html)object is included in your model. A blank field indicates that the default from/to of the container type will be used as specified in the [Container Types window](Container_Types.html). To get a correct model, it is vital to set this field correctly. Please read more about the model data driver in the [FlexTerm Modeling Paradigm](Container_Terminal_Modeling_Overview.html). Min and Max聽 - These values are the minimum and maximum number of containers that may be moved during this operation. The actual number of containers moved is a uniformly distributed random number between the min and max that is chosen at run time for each instance of this hatch profile. Note: A value of 0 in both the Min and Max fields can be used to provide an empty bucket for an undetermined number of containers. This may be used when the gate is the master interface for the model or when another ship is the data driver for the transaction such as in a transshipment operation, or when the rail is the master interface. Similarly, a value of -1 in the "Min" field with a positive number in the "Max" field can be used to provide a limited bucket. In this case, the number of containers is not allowed to exceed the maximum value. The Default option in Container Profile means that you do not specify the particular attributes here. You will let FlexTerm choose the value for the attribute according to the set up for the particular container type in the Container Type window. For example, if you specify the size of Type1 being 100% 40ft, then all Type1 containers generated will be 40ft containers if you select Default for the size in Container Profile. If you specify a particular size, for example, 20ft, then all containers generated according to this profile will be 20ft regardless the set up in the Container Type. For more information and examples on the model data driver, see the [FlexTerm Modeling Paradigm](Container_Terminal_Modeling_Overview.html#ChoosingADataDriver). Combine- This value is used to combine multiple operations into a mixed operation. The combine value is placed in the first row of the mixed operation and is the number of rows that should be mixed together. For instance, you may create an operation to discharge 10-20 reefer containers followed by an operation to discharge 10-20 empty containers. With no combine value, all聽the reefers are discharged followed by all聽the empties. In reality, these containers are mixed together in the hatch. A combine value of 2 placed in the reefer operation row would cause the reefer and empty containers to be unloaded in a mixed fashion. Similarly, you may combine a discharge and load operation. This will cause the cranes to operate in a dual cycling mode. Speed Tag- This value changes the speed of the crane for the given operation. Clicking in the speed tag column will bring up a drop-down box listing a handful of preset tags and an option to edit tags. Each tag is associated with a speed multiplier that alters the speed of the crane by that multiplication factor. By selecting a tag, the crane will move faster or slower for the given operation. Speed tags may be used, for example, to simulate a crane completing an operation faster for containers on the top of the hatch and completing an operation slower for containers deep in the hatch. Tags can be created or edited by clicking on the "Edit Tags..." option, which will bring up the [Speed Tags window](Speed_Tags.html). Default speed tags are listed in the following table. A blank field indicates that the default multiplier of 1.00 is used. Users can modify values of these defined speed tags, or add their own tags. Tag Name Speed Multiplier Normal 1\.00 Shallow 1\.20 Deep 0\.80
