The Services tab page is used to create templates for the types of ships that arrive at the berth. The service template specifies the size of the ship and the number and types of hatches on the ship. Tab Page Details ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/f58c0a2efaf873e194e42cd2b6e4ba1d_910x600.png) Services List- This list shows each of the services that have been created. Highlight a service in the list to edit it. Click the Add Service button to add a new service. To delete a service, highlight it in the list, then click the Delete Service button. Service Name - This value is the name assigned to the service. Ship Length - This value is the length of the ship. Length units are determined by the [Model Units window](Model_Units.html). The length of the ship will affect where the ship is placed in the berth since the section of berth must be of sufficient length to dock the ship. Ship Beam - This value affects the space required to tie down the mooring ropes of the ship. The required space is indicated on the [Ship Schedule tab](Ship_Schedule.html)by a shadow around the ship. When placing ships, you should allow room for the entire ship and the shadow in order to achieve realistic distances. Length units are determined by the [Model Units window](Model_Units.html). TEU Capacity- This value may be used as a scaling mechanism for a standard hatch profile that is used by various sized ships. For instance, on the [Hatch Profiles tab](Hatch_Profiles.html), you may create a hatch profile consisting of 10 minutes of setup time, 20-40 discharges and 30-50 loads, which is based on a 3500 TEU service. Here, you can specify the TEU of that service. If the service is a 3500 TEU ship, the hatch profile remains unchanged. If the service is a 7000 TEU ship, the hatch profile is doubled to be 10 minutes of setup time, 40-80 discharges and 60-100 loads. If the service is a 1750 TEU service the hatch profile is halved. The scaling factor works as a ratio of \[service TEU / hatch profile TEU\], so any set of values will work. If either TEU value is set to 0, no scaling is done. The default value is 0. Arrival Time Variability- This value determines how early or late this type of ship may arrive at berth for any given week. This value is used to randomly offset the scheduled arrival time of the ship set on the [Ship Schedule tab](Ship_Schedule.html). The value can be a static number or an expression based upon a distribution. Time units are determined by the [Model Units window](Model_Units.html). Reliability Percentage- This value is the probability that the ship will actually arrive at berth for any given week. A value of 100 means that the ship will always arrive as scheduled. A value of 90, for example, means that the ship will arrive 9 out of 10 weeks and fail to show up 1 of those 10 weeks. Consequently, the containers that would normally be sent out on that ship will also notarrive in the yard. This value does not affect the "Arrival Time Variability" since a ship may still arrive early or late. Draft- This value is the depth of the ship underwater and indicates how deep the berth must be in order to dock the ship. This value is currently not used. Total Discharge- This value is the total number of containers that will be discharged from the ship. It is determined by the set of discharge operations for all聽the [hatches](Hatch_Profiles.html) of the ship. Total Load- This value is the total number of containers that will be loaded onto the ship. It is determined by the set of load operations for all聽the [hatches](Hatch_Profiles.html) of the ship. Hatch Profiles List - The "Available Hatch Profiles" list contains all聽the hatch profiles created on the [Hatch Profiles tab](Hatch_Profiles.html).The "Service's Hatch Profiles" list contains the hatches that are on the ship. Use the聽![](https://box.kancloud.cn/1cf9b2e6345c2e796140e9da10ae0c09_20x18.jpg) and聽![](https://box.kancloud.cn/90311765855b3d0e1819ae88dd4a21dd_20x18.jpg) arrow buttons to add hatches to or remove hatches from the service. The ordering of hatches in the "Service's Hatch Profile" list is important since hatches are worked on in the order that they appear. Custom Hatch Positions- Click this button to bring up the [Hatch Position Editor](Hatch_Position_Editor.html). The Editor will allow the user to define each hatch's specific location on the selected ship. By default, hatch positions are equally distributed on the ship body from the vessel stern to bow. Ship Diagram View ![](https://box.kancloud.cn/4e2e796858eb4aa1660fb898016011b1_551x128.png) The ship diagram view shows a 2D schematic of the ship sectioned into hatches. It also shows how many loads and discharges will take place for each hatch. Hatches are displayed in the order they will be worked on, from left to right, and do not necessarily show the actual location of the hatches on the ship. You can adjust the order of the hatches by changing the order in the "Service's Hatch Profile" list. The triangle indicates the bow of the ship. This view operates like a typical [orthographic view](Flexsim_Users_Manual.html)in that you can zoom and translate the view by using the mouse buttons. When you click on the diagram of the ship, it is highlighted by a yellow box with a solid yellow square in the lower right corner. You can click and drag this square horizontally and vertically to change the ship length and ship beam values respectively, thereby resizing the ship.
