Overview
The Rail Block is the equivalent of a single train track. Multiple rail blocks can be combined in the聽[Rail Planner](Rail_Planner_Overview.html) to form a track area. A Rail Block is an area for trains to arrive on and depart from. It is composed of cells laid out in a single row with multiple columns, or bays. The Rail Block is flat and containers are stacked no more than 2 tiers high.聽
Usually, several Rail Blocks, or tracks, will be in the yard. A Rail Block can hold a specific type of container, such as just "imports" or just "exports," depending on the defined Car Profiles in the [Rail Planner](Rail_Planner_Overview.html).

<a name="params">Block Name</a><a name="params">- This value is the name assigned to the rail block. It is used in the Rail Planner for creating track areas and resource assignment rules.</a>
<a name="params">Number of 20 ft Bays</a><a name="params">- This value determines how many bays (or columns) are in the rail block. This value controls the amount of well cars that can occupy this rail block (or track). The default value is 50. This means that this rail block can support a maximum capacity of 25 well cars.聽</a>
<a name="params">The term "bay" is used to describe a section of the block holding 20ft containers as well as a section holding 40ft containers even though the section holding 40ft containers is double in length. Therefore, this parameter is qualified as the number of </a><a name="params">20ft</a><a name="params"> bays. You may also specify how long each 20ft bay is. The default value is 24.00ft, which allows some cushion between bays and also allows 45ft containers to fit into a 40ft bay.</a>
<a name="params">Number of Tiers High</a><a name="params">- This value cannot be set. Currently, rail blocks can only be stacked a maximum of 2 tiers high. If single stacking is desired, the maximum TEUs in the Car Profiles tab in the Rail Planner will be limited such that the maximum TEUs does not exceed two times the number of platforms (or wells).</a>
<a name="params">Stack</a><a name="params">- This dropdown box determines the order in which the rail block is filled. From a visual perspective, it determines if the rail block is filled from the first well car to the last or the last well car to the first.聽</a>

The main differences is that a rail block has only one row with multiple cells and can聽stack at maximum 2 tiers high.聽
