**Car Profiles**
聽聽[](Services.html)聽
Similar to the Berth Planner, schedules for trains are built bottom-up. Car Profiles are the lowest level of detail for a schedule and must be created before Trains or Train Schedules.
A聽car profile is a template list of containers, types and amounts. Each train is composed of a set of cars, where each car is determined by a car profile.

Car Profiles List- This list shows each of the car profiles that have been created. To edit a profile, highlight it in the list. To add a profile, click the "Add New Car Profile" button. To delete a selected profile, click the "Delete Car Profile" button. To duplicate the selected profile, click the "Duplicate Car Profile" button.
Profile Name - This value is the name assigned to the car profile.
Max TEUs Per Car - This value displays the maximum limit of 20ft containers that may be placed onto this car.
Platforms Per Car - This value is the number of platforms, or wells, on the train that a car occupies. Each well on a train typically holds 4 TEUs.
Single Stacked - This checkbox is used to control whether or not the car is single or double stacked. If checked, the car will be single stacked. By default, this is unchecked and the car will be double stacked. The Max TEUs value will change accordingly.
Note: Well cars can only be stacked a maximum of 2 tiers high. The Max TEUs value reflects this constraint. The Max TEUs value is calculated by multiplying the number of wells by 4 (each well can have 2 tiers and each tier can support 2 TEUs). If single stacking is desired, the Max TEUs is limited to 2 times the number of wells.
Row Buttons - Use these buttons to manipulate the rows in the container list table. Add new rows by clicking the Add Row button, or remove a row by clicking the Delete Row button. Change the ordering of the rows using the up and down arrows.
Note: The Rail Planner will accommodate each row in a car profile in a top-down manner (rows higher in the car profile container list table will take precedence over lower rows). If the total TEUs generated exceed the specified max TEUs, the remaining containers will not be generated.
Container List Table
The container list table lists the containers on this car.
Note: The Rail Planner may or may not be the data driver of your model. To get a correct model, it is vital to set up this table correctly. Please read more about the model data driver in the [FlexTerm Modeling Paradigm](Container_Terminal_Modeling_Overview.html#ChoosingADataDriver).
The following parameters are part of the container list table.
Container Profile -聽The following four parameters define the container profile within the container list table. These parameters are accessible through the drop down menu for each row in the container profile column.

Container Type - This value is the type of container that is to be discharged or loaded. Options for this field are determined by the [Container Types window](Container_Types.html). By specifying a container type, only containers of that type will be discharged or loaded.
Size - This value is the size of the container that is to be operated on. Options include 20ft, 40ft, and 45ft containers. By specifying a size, only containers of that size will be discharged or loaded. A blank field indicates that the default value of the container type will be used.
Equipment Type -聽This value is the equipment type of the container that is to be discharged or loaded. Options include General, Open Top, Reefer, Tank, Bulk, Port Hole and Flat Rack equipment types. By specifying an equipment type, only containers of that equipment type will be discharged or loaded. A blank field indicates that the default value of the container type will be used.
Origin/Destination - For a discharge operation, this value is the final destination of the container. For a load operation, this value is the origin of the container. Options include Yard, Ship, Default, and None; and may also include Gate if a [Gate Planner object](GatePlanner.html) is included in your model. A blank field indicates that the default from/to of the container type will be used as specified in the [Container Types window](Container_Types.html). To get a correct model, it is vital to set this field correctly. Please read more about the model data driver in the [FlexTerm Modeling Paradigm](Container_Terminal_Modeling_Overview.html).
Min and Max聽 - These values are the minimum and maximum number of containers that may be moved during this operation. The actual number of containers moved is a random number between the min and max that is chosen at run time for each instance of this car profile.
Note: A value of 0 in both the Min and Max fields can be used to provide an empty bucket for an undetermined number of containers. This may be used when the berth or gate is the data driver for the model. Similarly, a value of -1 in the "Min" field with a positive number in the "Max" field can be used to provide a limited bucket. In this case the number of containers is not allowed to exceed the maximum value.
