FlexTerm relies on preselected units for all聽its operations. It is vital to any model that the units be correct so that the model will have correct results. Therefore, the first thing that should be done before starting any model is to establish the units of the model.
It is strongly advised that you聽make a habit of checking the model units before starting any model.
Note: Once the model is started, changing the units may have unexpected results since the new units may not be correctly applied to the model's objects. Therefore, model units can only be set when creating a new model.
Note: Model units in standard FlexSim exist solely in the mind of the modeler. It is not necessary to specify to the program what the units are so long as the modeler uses the same units consistently. FlexTerm is different, FlexTerm requires the units to be specified to the program through the Model Units window when first creating the model.

Time Units- This value specifies the units by which time is measured in the model. Options include microseconds, milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, and years. The default is minutes. Time is used for any processing time, such as the [delay time at a gate](GateProcess.html) or the time required for [hatch profile setup operations](Hatch_Profiles.html). Time is also used in conjunction with length for speed values such as the speed of a [truck](Truck.html), a [RTG](RTG.html), or a [crane](Crane.html).
Length Units- This value specifies the units by which length is measured in the model. Options inlcude millimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, and miles. The default is meters. Length is used for any distance value, such as the distance of a [road](Road.html) or a [stretch of berth](Berth_Layout.html). Length is also used in conjunction with time for speed values such as the speed of a [truck](Truck.html), a [RTG](RTG.html), or a [crane](Crane.html).
Fluid Units- This value specifies the units by which volume is measured in the model. Options include milliliters, liters, cubic meters, fluid ounces, US gallons, US fluid barrels, petroleum barrels, grams, kilograms, tonnes, ounces, pounds, short tons, and long tons. The default is liters.
